Privacy policy

Educated Designer (educateddesigner.com) is operated by Mangalam Distribution LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Educated Designer, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google account details if you sign in with Google.
• Business content you add: company profile, logo and brand colours, products, prices, inventory, catalogs, designs, customers, orders and invoices.
• Information from your customers: when someone orders from your public catalog or pays your invoice, we store the contact and order details they give so that you can fulfil the order.
• Payment information: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive the payment status, amount and the last details Stripe shares with us (such as card brand), but we never see or store full card numbers.
• Usage information: basic technical data such as pages visited, the website or campaign that brought you to us, device type (phone, tablet or computer), approximate city, state and country, time zone, and error logs, used to keep the service running and improve it. Visits are counted with a random ID kept in your browser, not with your name or email.

How we use information

• To provide the service: hosting your catalogs and designs, processing orders, invoices and subscriptions.
• To generate AI suggestions and designs when you ask for them (see "AI features" below).
• To send service emails such as sign-in links, receipts and important account notices.
• To secure the service, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
• To understand usage and improve Educated Designer. We do not sell your personal information.

AI features

When you use AI features (for example the AI designer or layout suggestions), the text of your request and the relevant business details (such as company name, brand colours, product names and prices) are sent to our AI provider to produce the result. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we ask our providers not to.

Our 24/7 help chat is an AI assistant. What you type in it is sent to our AI provider to answer you and is saved so our support team can follow up. If you are signed in, the assistant can look up your own plan, usage and orders to answer your question. Please don't share passwords or card numbers in the chat.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Educated Designer, under contracts that protect it:

• Hosting, database and file storage providers.
• Stripe, for subscription payments and for invoice payments to businesses that connect a Stripe account.
• AI model providers, for AI features you choose to use.
• Font and content-delivery providers (for example Google Fonts) used to display pages.
• MaxMind, to estimate a visitor's city and country from their IP address (the address itself is not stored). This product includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind, available from maxmind.com.

Content you publish (public catalogs and shared designs) is visible to anyone with the link. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, count visits with a random ID, and remember which website first brought you to us. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete content at any time. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where we must keep records (such as payment records) for legal or tax reasons.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your information. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to each company's data is restricted to its members, and payment details are handled by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.

Teachers, schools and student privacy

Educated Designer offers classroom tools for teachers, school staff, homeschool parents and adult students. Accounts are for people 18 or older: students under 18 do not create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from them.

• Student information you add. A teacher may type students' first names or a class list into a design, for example on certificates or name tags. Class lists pasted for certificates are read in your browser to make the designs; names that end up in a saved design are stored only as part of that design in your account. We use this information only to provide the service to you, never for advertising, profiling or selling, and we do not use it to train AI models.
• Keep it minimal. Please add only what a design needs (usually a first name) and don't add sensitive details such as student ID numbers, grades, health or family information. Don't put students' personal information into AI requests.
• Schools and FERPA. When a school or teacher uses Educated Designer with student information from education records, we act on the school's behalf as a service provider under its direct control, use that information only for the school's purposes, and do not re-disclose it except to our service providers listed above as needed to run Educated Designer. The school remains responsible for its obligations to parents and eligible students.
• Deleting student information. Teachers can delete designs at any time. A school or teacher can ask us to delete all of their content, including any student information, by emailing support@educateddesigner.com; we do so within 30 days. Schools that need a data protection agreement can ask us at the same address.

Children

Educated Designer is not directed to children, and accounts are only for adults (18 or older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@educateddesigner.com and we will delete it.
