How kindergarten teachers use this lesson plan

Fill it in for daily lessons, observations or sub plans, and keep a copy in your planning binder. A consistent layout makes it quicker to plan and easier for a substitute to follow. Kindergarten teachers working on letter sounds, sight words, counting and routines can change every word to match the unit.

Keep one task per page and leave big spaces for writing. Write the objective in student-friendly words you can say out loud at the start.

What to put on it

  • Learning objective
  • Activities with timings
  • Materials needed
  • How you'll check understanding

Sizes and printing

This template comes in one size: Lesson plan (11 × 8.5 in). Letter or A4; many teachers keep it digital and print only for observations or substitutes.
