Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Converting and downloading are free, with no watermark. You don't need an account for small batches.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never leave it and we never see them. Closing the tab clears everything.

How does it make files smaller?

JPG and WebP are re-saved at the quality you choose. PNGs are reduced to a palette of up to 256 colours, which suits logos, screenshots and graphics. Setting a maximum size makes big photos smaller still.

Will my images look worse?

At the default settings the difference is hard to see on screen. Check the preview, and raise the quality if you see blockiness or banding.

What if a file gets bigger?

Some images are already well compressed. If the result isn't smaller, you get your original file back unchanged.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 25 files per batch without an account, 50 with a free account and 500 on Pro. Each file can be up to 100 MB. Very large images may be scaled down to fit your browser's memory, and the tool tells you when that happens.

What happens to photo details like GPS location?

By default the converted file has no metadata: camera details, date and GPS location are removed. For JPG to JPG you can choose to keep the camera details, with or without the location.
