Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Converting and downloading are free, with no watermark. You don't need an account for small batches.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never leave it and we never see them. Closing the tab clears everything.
Will I lose quality?
WebP is a compressed format, so some detail is traded for a smaller file. At the default quality (90) the difference is hard to see; move the quality slider up for print or down for the smallest files.
Does it work in every browser?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox and other Chromium browsers can write WebP. Older Safari versions can open WebP but not save it; the tool checks and tells you if your browser can't, so nothing fails silently.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 25 files per batch without an account, 50 with a free account and 500 on Pro. Each file can be up to 100 MB. Very large images may be scaled down to fit your browser's memory, and the tool tells you when that happens.
What happens to photo details like GPS location?
By default the converted file has no metadata: camera details, date and GPS location are removed. For JPG to JPG you can choose to keep the camera details, with or without the location.
