Every tool opens the same editor, so you can crop, then resize, then add text in one go. Files stay on your device.

How to use it

  1. Step 1

    Open your GIF

Drop a GIF on the page or pick one. It opens in your browser and is never uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the settings

Fewer colours and a higher lossy level make smaller files; dropping frames helps long GIFs most.

  3. Step 3

    Make the file

The new size and the percentage saved appear next to the original. Change settings and try again.

  4. Step 4

    Download

Save the smaller GIF to your device.

Questions

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and edited inside your browser tab, and the new file is made on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, so it works for private or unreleased work.

What does lossy do here?

Pixels that barely change from one frame to the next are left as they were instead of being redrawn, so noise and slow drift stop costing bytes. Higher levels save more but can leave faint trails.

What is transparency optimisation?

Each frame only stores the pixels that really change; everything else is marked see-through so the frame before shows through. It looks identical and often saves a lot on screen recordings and cartoons.

Why did my file get bigger?

Some GIFs are already heavily optimised. Try fewer colours, a lossy level, or dropping frames. Turning dithering on also makes files larger.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it's free and needs no account. Editing and converting your own GIFs adds nothing to them. Animations you build from photos or a video follow the GIF maker's rules: free files are up to 15 seconds with a small corner credit; Pro removes the credit and allows 60 seconds.
