How to use it

  1. Step 1

    Open your GIF

Drop a GIF on the page or pick one. It opens in your browser and is never uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    Choose quality

Higher quality looks better; lower makes a smaller file.

  3. Step 3

    Make the WebP

Each frame is encoded by your browser and joined into one animated file.

  4. Step 4

    Download

Save it to your device and compare the sizes.

Questions

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and edited inside your browser tab, and the new file is made on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, so it works for private or unreleased work.

Which browsers can make WebP?

Chrome, Edge and Firefox can. Safari can show WebP but can't make it; use another browser for this conversion.

Where can I use animated WebP?

All current browsers show it, and many chat apps accept it. Some older apps and email clients still only take GIF.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it's free and needs no account. Editing and converting your own GIFs adds nothing to them. Animations you build from photos or a video follow the GIF maker's rules: free files are up to 15 seconds with a small corner credit; Pro removes the credit and allows 60 seconds.
