Free GIF Splitter — GIF to Frames

Split an animated GIF into its frames and download them as PNG or JPG files in a ZIP, with each frame's delay in the file name. Or save a single frame.

Every tool opens the same editor, so you can crop, then resize, then add text in one go. Files stay on your device.

How to use it

  1. Step 1

    Open your GIF

Drop a GIF on the page or pick one. It opens in your browser and is never uploaded.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the format

PNG keeps transparency; JPG is smaller and puts a background colour behind see-through areas.

  3. Step 3

    Download the ZIP

Every frame is saved as its own picture in one ZIP.

  4. Step 4

    Or one frame

Pick a frame in the strip and save just that picture.

Questions

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and edited inside your browser tab, and the new file is made on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers, so it works for private or unreleased work.

Are the frames complete pictures?

Yes. Many GIFs store only the part that changes; the splitter rebuilds each full frame exactly as it shows on screen.

Can I edit the frames and put them back?

Yes: edit the PNGs anywhere, then use the GIF editor's Make tool with images to build a new GIF. Or edit frames right here in the frame view.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it's free and needs no account. Editing and converting your own GIFs adds nothing to them. Animations you build from photos or a video follow the GIF maker's rules: free files are up to 15 seconds with a small corner credit; Pro removes the credit and allows 60 seconds.
